Why Should You Join Greek Life?
Unlike many others before recruitment, I knew I wanted to be in a sorority, and that decision was easy for me. The decision that I anticipated being a challenge was what sorority I would want to be in. Little did I know, freshman year when I met the girls of Alpha Chi Omega they would make this the easiest decision of my life. Right off the bat, the women I talked to were genuine, passionate, and welcoming. Within a blink of an eye, I became a junior in Alpha Chi Omega and more than halfway done with college, and it has my experience in this chapter has been even better than I anticipated. As cheesy as it sounds, follow your heart. They say “When you know, you know” and that couldn’t be more accurate. Going through recruitment can be intimidating but I am here to reassure you that you will find your home away from home. Alpha Chi Omega has given me a home where I’ve learned so many valuable things, gained so many lifelong friends who I look up to, and even grown as a leader by holding executive board positions.
I now stand as our Vice President of New Member Education where I can guide our new sisters through the beginning weeks known as the new member process. During this period you will gain some of the most amazing memories of your time in Alpha Chi Omega. You will learn our values, see how our sisterhood is strengthened every day and meet your lifelong friends. I knew Alpha Chi Omega was right for me during recruitment but solidified that feeling within the first week of being a new member when I was welcomed with open arms. It was a sense of belonging and I felt right at home. I am so honored to now share my experience and guarantee that future new members can blossom just as I did.
Joining Alpha Chi Omega assured me that I will always have a shoulder to cry on, a friend to laugh with and the greatest support system a young woman could ask for when navigating the sometimes overwhelming college life. I am so excited to meet our new member class coming this Fall, and to walk with you through your first steps of being an Alpha Chi Omega sister!
