Recruitment
Dear incoming freshman,
Welcome to Stetson! My name is Sophie Chinelli, I am a junior majoring in Digital Arts. I am currently serving as Vice President of Recruitment for Alpha Chi Omega. So far, it has been an incredible experience to serve alongside the Recruitment Team and I know I can speak for all of us in saying, we are so beyond ready to greet the new membership class of 2027.
Stetson is soon going to become your home away from home. Over the next four years, you are going to make many friends and even more memories- both big and small. The big moments will be found all around campus; walking through palm court, running home to your sorority on bid day, and jumping into the fountain. However, the times that define your experience are found in the small things; walking to class with your sorority sisters, getting your first A on a test you've studied hard for, and experiencing all of what DeLand has to offer.
Going off to college and deciding to go through recruitment may seem intimidating at first, I totally get it. When I transferred to Stetson and decided to go through Fall Primary Recruitment, I was so nervous and thought I was making the wrong decision. But, I was completely wrong. The best advice I have to offer is simple: Reach outside your comfort zone. Join a club, get to know the people around campus, volunteer for a cause, and go through sorority recruitment! I may be biased, but finding my home in Alpha Chi Omega has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I have truly found my best friends for life, and without this experience, I would not be the friend, sister, leader, or person I am today.
Serving on the Recruitment team for Alpha Chi Omega has been so rewarding in many ways. These strong women push me to be the best version of myself every day and seek the heights in everything we do. My goal as Vice President of Recruitment is to make sure that every single woman feels comfortable, seen, and heard when coming into our home. When recruitment starts remember these three things:
-
Be open-minded.
-
You are strong, beautiful, and worthy.
-
Follow your heart!
Your time at Stetson will fly by; before you know it, you will be walking across the stage receiving your diploma. You're going to hear this so much, but it's true. Take it all in! You are now a college student!
I absolutely can not wait to meet the new membership class of 2027. See you all in the Fall!
